Today she has half a dozen illustrated children’s books to her name. She is a talented and versatile traditional and digital illustrator, who’s bright and playful style is suitable for any application of illustration. While her primary focus is children’s books, her illustrations have been used in magazines, greeting cards, advertising, t-shirts, and logos. Often she uses real life attachments and collage elements that make the viewer want to touch each page.  Shielaugh approaches each project with creativity and a playful spirit, which produces a finished product that is sure to put a smile on the faces of children and adults alike.

In addition to being a commercial artist, Shielaugh also applies her whimsical illustration style to her fine art pieces.  She creates larger scale pieces the are inspired by dreams, fairy tales, songs, candy, holidays, play on words, superstitions and folklore that are a part of our childhood and adult culture. These painting are like her looking-glass; through each one a new world is created.

Shielaugh holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Illustration and Fine Art along with a Master’s degree in Children’s Illustration. She has 10+ years experience working with art directors, gallery directors, designers, copyeditors, editors and other creative types to collaborate on projects. She lives by the muddy banks of the Carquinez Straits in Northern California, with her family, and sleepy cat.
